Wekemnayon Village (Peralta & Tres Ranchos Districts)

Welcome to Wekemnayon Village - The New Brotherhood Village

Communities Served: Oakland, Emeryville, Castro Valley, Hayward, San Lorenzo & San Leandro

History:

With a history of service that dates back to 1947 with Machek N'Gult lodge. The Wekemnayon village continues to provide leadership and service to the Packs, Troops, District and Council.

Our village name is from the American Indian tribe of the Leni Lenape of the Delaware Valley and translates as “New Brotherhood”.

Timeline:

1947 - Machek N’Gult formed.  Lodge provides service to all of Oakland Area Council.

1957 - Lodge divided into two Chapters. Central, Castle, Lake and Sunset districts are overseen by Chapter 1.

1966 - Live Oak Village formed by merger of Central & Castle districts

1966 - Golden Acorn Village formed by merger of Lake and Sunset districts

1970 - Live Oak issues pocket flap, known as the F1

1981 - Live Oak issues pocket flap, known as the S1

1987 - Live Oak and Golden Acorn merge in 1987 to form Achewon Tulpe Village (Peralta District)

2013 - Achewon Tulpe and Amangi Nechochwen merge to form Wekemnayon
