Happy new years Achie. I hope everyone is ready for an exciting year. This year we have the first Los Mochos ordeal that Achie has had in a long time. It will allow us to complete more service for the camp than we have been able to do in the past. Even though it’s only January, everyone needs to start getting ready for the most awesome conclave ever, at College of Marin. The COC is working hard to make it the best and we need to be working hard so we can take the win for the 11th time, while having the most fun possible. Everyone needs also to sign up to staff Klondike derby, on track to have another record year. Hopefully we have some snow.
Achie had two great events this last December, Winter Camp Awareness and our annual banquet.
On the first weekend of December, 450 scouts and scouters descended on the LDS stake in Fremont for some excellent training put on by our very own arrowmen. We offered six different classes, served tons of hotdogs, and had lots of fun. Over 50 staff arrowmen working on both Friday evening and all day Saturday put on this huge event. Big plans are already in the works for next year’s seminar.
The very next weekend at the extremely popular annual banquet, 100 arrowmen and their families feasted on roast beef and mashed potatoes. Following a rousing auction of lodge and village officers, dozens of awards were given out over the course of the evening. Congratulations to our new vigil members, Laura Priest, Jesse Louthain, Derek Dragon, Cynthia Dragon, Kari Costa, Andrew Mays, Will Mcmahan, Daniel Salet, and Jason Bryson. Jason Bryson was further awarded the highly coveted Arrowman of the Year award. The evening finished with an amazing slideshow with highlights from the previous year.
Mark your calendars, this April at the College of Marin, Indian Valley campus, located a mere hour and a half away from our most distant arrowmen. The COC has big plans for a weekend of fun and training. We have already designed the coolest patch ever. All should attend to help the lodge once again take the conclave award. Get ready for the classics, Indian handball, and OA jeopardy. Overall, it will be a great weekend of cheerful brotherhood.
YIB,
Daniel
P.S. Who’s better than Achie?
